Cambridge Education / The Tripod Project

Cambridge Education is an established education research center with more than 25 years of experience working in over 45 countries. In the United States, Cambridge has partnered with over 2,500 schools in more than 200 districts across 25 states. Services are provided by a team of experienced educators who specialize in the fields of leadership, instruction, student achievement and change management. In the U.S., Cambridge is currently leading large-scale projects focused on school- and district-level transformation, teacher evaluation, school and district quality review, and comprehensive school improvement.

From 2007 to 2014, Cambridge Education implemented Tripod surveys through its partnership with Dr. Ronald F. Ferguson of Harvard University. Dr. Ferguson and Rob Ramsdell were the professional leads for the survey portion of the MET project and Cambridge Education managed all data collection related to the Tripod® survey, which was used in the project to measures students’ perception of their classroom experience.

In 2014 Dr. Ferguson co-founded Tripod Education Partners, which now delivers Tripod surveys across the US and internationally. Tripod administers student surveys to gather, organize, and report on student perceptions at the classroom level. Tripod’s 7Cs™ survey components provide feedback about key dimensions of teaching practice and Tripod surveys also cover topics including student engagement, dimensions of social and emotional learning (SEL), and school climate.

Educational Testing Service

Educational Testing Service (ETS) is a nonprofit whose mission is to advance quality and equity in education for people worldwide through creating assessments and conducting educational research, analysis and policy studies. ETS manages and trains the experts who are viewing and rating the videotaped lessons using the five observational protocols and rubrics.

Education research firm Empirical Education Inc. specializes in effectiveness evaluation of instructional programs, policies and products. With the goal of helping educators make the best possible evidence-based decisions, Empirical Education has developed a suite of technology tools to increase the efficiency of research operations. The Learning Mathematics for Teaching (LMT) Project

The University of Michigan’s Learning Mathematics for Teaching (LMT) Project investigates the mathematical knowledge needed for teaching and how this knowledge develops as a result of experience and professional learning. For the MET project, the LMT Project’s assessment was expanded to measure both mathematical knowledge in the area of Algebra 1 and the subject-specific knowledge used in teaching English language arts.

The New Teacher Center

The New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national organization dedicated to improving student learning by improving the effectiveness of teachers and school leaders. NTC strengthens school communities through proven mentoring and professional development programs, online learning environments, policy advocacy and research. Since 1998, the NTC has served over 49,000 teachers and 5,000 mentors, and has touched millions of students across America.

Since 2008, more than 415,000 Teaching and Learning Conditions Surveys have been submitted. NTC has produced more than 10,000 school-level data reports. Clients in 2008-2010 include Alabama, Colorado, Fairfax County, Va., Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Vermont and West Virginia. NTC also administered statewide surveys in spring 2011 in Kentucky and Tennessee, which included the survey in its winning Race to the Top application.

The New Teacher Center designed and administered the working conditions survey administered as part of the Teacher Perceptions component of the MET project.
