Expanding the teacher toolkit

Standards-aligned curriculum can improve student learning more than many costlier solutions. In Louisiana, state leaders point to increases in fourth grade NAEP scores in reading and math as a result of aligned curricula is supporting student achievement. However, the adoption of curriculum alone is insufficient to ensure that teachers are fully equipped to deliver high-quality instruction that meets individual student learning needs—it must also be accompanied by professional learning opportunities.

We will work with partners in the field so that middle and high school teachers have access to high-quality aligned curriculum choices in English, math, and science. Our investments will focus on improving high school to postsecondary math readiness through the development of new high school math curriculum and the development and implementation of a middle school science curriculum.
